From wall to duck
Location
Day 2 - The Great Wall of China and Beijing duck.
In Beijing its usually so polluted that you cant see the sky. Which is ok, who needs sky anyway, right? It also means you cannot see the clouds, when there actually are clouds. The weather report called for either clear skies or partly cloudy so when it started raining I was a little surprised. Before it rained it was very humid, very unusual for Beijing but after the temperature was much better. Since we were already wet from sweating so much a little more damp wasn't a problem.
It was beginning to get a little slippery and visibility wasn't good at all so we only spend about two hours at the wall before eagerly rushing back towards Beijing in search of the nearest traffic jam. Before long we did find a nice traffic jam which we could sit in for twenty minutes. Not to be outdone by someone else crashing and holding up traffic our driver decided to rear end a car which had stopped dead in the left lane. I guess it was to teach him a lesson as after the collision there was a lot of yelling then our driver calmly drove off as nothing had happened. What else could I do? I checked to see if everyone in the bus as ok then, trying to downplay the crash, casually remarked "That's all part of driving in Beijing." Everyone seemed satisfied, most of them assuming their previous 'sleeping in a bus' pose and nodded off.
In the evening I took some of the guys to my favorite duck/midget restaurant, and ate way too much duck!
