...or in other words the Vystavka Dostizheny Narodnogo Khozyaystva SSSR....or in other words the Vystavka Dostizheny Narodnogo Khozyaystva SSSR.It has probably been the most interesting thing I've seen here in Moscow and in a lot of ways has satisfied my expectations of what I would find here. From what I can gather this large slab of land was much like a permanent Royal Easter Show. It was built to show the Soviet public how fantastic the socialist economic system was. I guess in case they couldn''t tell just by looking at how great their day to day life was in Russia.

I took heaps of photos here. The whole area of grand avenues, rows of wheat shaped light posts and wedding cake looking monuments seemed to strange to be true. It seems that while the Soviets delighted in experimenting with whacky economics they wanted to play it safe with the architecture of the site and opted for an architect withy a few too many text books on ancient Greek temples.

Tonight I'm off to St Petersburg for a few days. Hopefully the buildings there will be a little more tasteful.
