I''m certainly not in Japan anymore, they cook their meat and I can (almost) read the signage.
Rome is hot, dusty, noisy and there''s heaps of old stuff lying around and semi-covered but stuff that''s just a little less old. Arriving at night wasn''t the most welcoming experience and when I turned up to the hotel after passing a communist headquaters, hundreds of pissed locals and stepping in dog poo the last thing I wanted to hear was they lost my reservation. Well they had but $30 and 30 minutes later I was in a similar hotel out in the sticks.
Luckily the last few days have been much much better. I''ve seem so much old stuff - ruins, statues, catacombes. There''s stuff here 2000 years old and its just lying in the street or its part of an ice-cream shop. Next time I see something back in Sydney 200 years old and behind glass I''m going to laugh.
