Yeah it's expensive but it seems like a great place to live.
Having just spent one day in London I've already decided it's going to be a great place to live and work. This, despite my first experience being a signal failure on the tube and having to wait half an hour before getting off and walking to where I was going.
So what was my first bit of sightseeing in London? Actually it was seeing a piece of the Berlin Wall of all things. Where I''m staying is walking distance to the Imperial War Museum and outside that there is one panel of the Berlin Wall that was removed from near the Brandenburg Gate. The War Museum was free which was excellent and their collection of machinery is first rate. It does focus almost exclusively on the first and second world wars, ignoring pretty much everything prior to 1914. Even with this limitation I did manage to spend the best part of a day there and still not see everything.
Last night I decided to get right into the London experience and sample some of the famous local food in Brick Lane. Being mid-week I was able to get a discount in the almost empty resturant. Despite the warnings I didn't find the Chicken Vindaloo too mild and really did need a couple of beers to wash it down.
Today I''m just doing some housekeeping and maybe a gallery in the afternoon if I have time before the big Champions''s League match between Arsenal and Chelsea.
