Settling down at last!

Big news of the moment is that I am a backpacker that is soon to settle down for the winter. I''ve never liked the cold weather and as bad as sightseeing is during a heat-wave it is just not an option while the temperature gets down into single figures. For this reason I have decided to hang up the pack for a few months and see out the winter in Berlin.

A friend is moving to Paris for a few months and is renting me his room. It''s just across the hallway from one of my best mates as well. Things couldn''t be more convenient!

As for Amsterdam, I''ve been having a fantastic time here so far. There''s some great art to see, inspiring design shops and the canals are so romantic at night.

Although Amsterdam isn''t the kick arse city many rave about. Sure it''s got coffee shops where you can smoke pot and their attitude towards prostitution and porn is more open than other places. The downside is that you get a whole horde of tourists cramming into this cities small streets and getting off their nut on the strongest pot they can find. If I lived in Amsterdam I''d be a huge advocate for the legalisation of pot everywhere, just to stop every drop kick from around the world coming here and messing up my town. I myself am still in favour of decriminalising pot in Australia but seeing the deadbeat culture that surrounds it has strengthened my resolve never to take the habit up myself.

Hope to see everyone when they come to visit my in Berlin. Go the Wallabies.
