Back in Berlin

At least this time you can get cold beer.

It's been great to return to my favourite city so far. This time the weather hasn't been as inviting though. Swimming at Schlachtensee has been out of the question. The up side of colder weather is that the beer that many German bars serve at room temperature is actually cold.

The boys that were here for the wedding will be sad to hear that our favourite drinking hole, the beach bar, is no more. The bar, palm trees, deck chairs and trendy Berliners have vanished leaving just am empty patch of sand. All good things...

Strangely I haven't been out clubbing yet. Each night we've been having kick arse house (apartment) parties either at Nick or Jens/Simon's place. Tonight its going to be another house party in a different part of the city.

Another welcomed change here in Berlin is being able to fit into the crowd. In Turkey I really stood out as a tourist and was forever being stopped by people trying to sell me carpets, lunch, leather, a bus ticket or trying to show me to a hotel. The down side though is that random people come up to you and ask for directions speaking German. While I have picked up a few German phrases I cant sprechen sie Deutsche well enough to engage in conversation with them.

Next stop is Munich for some more beer drinking. Shame that Ive just missed Oktoberfest. Maybe next year.
