10 Things I Won't Miss

It was only just now that as I was cleaning out old boxes and getting ready for more travel and a big move that I came across these notes from my last big adventure.

From wall to duck

Day 2 - The Great Wall of China and Beijing duck.

In Beijing its usually so polluted that you cant see the sky. Which is ok, who needs sky anyway, right? It also means you cannot see the clouds, when there actually are clouds. The weather report called for either clear skies or partly cloudy so when it started raining I was a little surprised. Before it rained it was very humid, very unusual for Beijing but after the temperature was much better. Since we were already wet from sweating so much a little more damp wasn't a problem.

21 days - Beijing to St Petersburg on the train

Day 1 - I meet my group and have some dinner.

Lily Feet

While tidying up my girlfriend’s apartment I picked up her running shoes and stopped for a second to marvel at how tiny her feet were (she’s a US 6½). I didn’t give it much more thought and continued cleaning. Later on I thought had I been Chinese and living 100 or more years ago my reaction to a woman’s shoe of that size may have been much different.

'I'm leaving on a choo-choo train...

...be back again next year :)
